Getting started
What sports does SubSquad support?
SubSquad supports Basketball, Netball, Soccer, AFL, and NRL. Each sport has its own formation library, position set and match formats. The whole app re-themes when you pick your sport.
Do I need to create an account?
No. SubSquad requires no login, no email address, and no password. Open the app and start coaching. All your data stays on your device.
How do I create a team?
On the Team tab, tap the + button. Choose your sport, add your players using first name and last initial, and set position eligibility for each player so the run sheet knows who can fill what role.
How does the run sheet work?
Before the game, go to Game day, set your match format and mark which players are available. Head to the Run sheet tab and SubSquad generates a substitution plan across every period, showing who plays which position in each window, who's on the bench, and projected game time per player.
What match formats are supported?
SubSquad ships with common local formats per sport. Basketball includes Jr Domestic (2x18), VJBL (2x20), School SSV (2x15), Hoop Time (2x8), FIBA (4x10) and Jr Classic (4x7). You can also set a custom period length and number of subs per half.

How do sub alerts work?
SubSquad fires a short cue 30 seconds before subs are due, then a stronger alert when it's time to rotate. You can choose Sound + buzz, Sound only, Buzz only or Silent. Use the Test alerts button on the Game day tab to hear the cue before the game.
Can I make changes during the game?
Yes. On the Live tab, tap any player on the court to manually sub them out. Long-press a player to swap their position with another. Score and stats can be adjusted at any time.
What if a player arrives late or leaves early?
Toggle player availability on the Game day tab before or during the game. Only available players appear in the run sheet and the plan adjusts automatically.
Game time and fairness
How is projected game time calculated?
SubSquad divides total court time across available players based on sub windows and position eligibility. If a position can only be filled by one or two players (e.g. Centre or GK) their time will naturally be higher. Add eligibility on the Team tab to spread it out.
Can I track game time across a season?
Yes. The Team tab shows accumulated game time per player across all recorded matches.
Data and privacy
Where is my data stored?
Everything stays on your device. SubSquad does not upload your team or player data to any server. There is no cloud sync and no account.
How do I remove my data?
To remove a team or player, use the delete option within the app. To remove all data, delete the app from your device or clear its data from your device settings.
